Meet Our Team

Dr Jeffrey Sands, grew up in South Florida and graduated from Piper High School in Sunrise, FL. University of Florida undergraduate, and earned a DVM degree from Araneta University, PI in 1982. Sands served his externship in 1983-84 at the Animal Medical Center in NYC and became board certified veterinary acupuncturist in 1995. Having practiced veterinary medicine for over 25yrs, Dr. Sands specializes in holistic pet care, nutrition and rehabilitation. He opened Heron Lakes Animal Hospital and Rehabiltation Center in 2005 and is a member of AVMA and BCVMA

Dr Sands is married to Heidi and has 2 sons, Zachary and Mason. Zachary, 16yrs old  attends Stoneman Douglas High School, and Mason,  4 yrs old is still too young for school. Jeff volunteers as a baseball coach in Parkland and is active in many community events. His animal family includes a Boxer named Tucker, the clinic cat, Max; an 20 yr old Yellow - Nape amazon parrot with an identity crisis, as "he" is a he named Tammy; and the newest addition, an Uromastyx lizard named Mr Wizard.
