Things Fido is Thankful For

Happy Thanksgiving! While this year’s gatherings may be smaller than usual, due to the coronavirus, there will still be plenty of folks enjoying special meals with their loved ones. While food and football are great, it’s also important to remember the reason for the holiday: gratitude for the good things in our lives. Dogs are definitely on that list! But what do you think Fido is most appreciative of? A Coral Springs, FL vet lists some of them below.

Toys

Toys actually serve several purposes to our canine buddies. They keep Fido occupied, and help prevent the dreaded Bored Doggy Blues. They also give your furry pal a safe and proper outlet for his excess energy, as well as any angst or stress he feels. Pick up a new plaything for your playful pet as a Thanksgiving treat.

Treats

One thing all of our canine patients have in common? Hearty appetites. Few things get that cute tail going like the thought of a tasty snack! Don’t go overboard with fatty foods, though. 

Car Rides

Man’s Best Friend is quite adventurous, and loves to explore new places … and new trees, and new lawns, and new paths. Take your furry friend out to parks and trails sometimes. Just bring plenty of water along for him, especially when it’s really hot out. 

Belly Rubs

You can’t help but smile when seeing a pup blissfully enjoying getting his furry tummy scratched. Most of our canine pals are also pretty fond of back scratches, ear rubs, and forehead petting. Pay lots of attention to Fido, and keep that tail going! 

Long Walks

Actually, Fido is pretty thankful for any walks, even the short ones. Your pooch really benefits from the fresh air, exercise, and stimulation those daily strolls provide. This is also a great way for you to spend quality time with your furry best friend. (Bonus: walking the dog is a great way to stave off that post-turkey food coma.) 

You

This one probably should have gone at the top of the list. Our canine companions are extremely grateful for the love and care we give them. They also show their gratitude in some pretty adorable ways, such as tail wags and puppy kisses.
