Arthroscopic evaluation and treatment is typically $4,500 additional when clinically appropriate. The recommendation depends on examination, imaging, anatomy, and surgical findings. The additional investment will be reviewed before proceeding.
The Surgery Is One Day. Recovery Is the Program.
Days 1 to 3
Weeks 1 to 4
Weeks 5 to 8
Weeks 9 to 12
During recovery, your dog will be confined to a crate or small room when not supervised. Stairs are blocked off, slippery floors are covered with rugs or runners, and bathroom breaks happen on a short leash – no running, jumping, or playing off leash until Dr. Lera clears the next stage. Your recovery calendar spells out what is allowed each week.
Call Heron Lakes Animal Hospital right away if your dog stops using the leg, the incision is swollen, red, or draining, your dog won’t eat, or anything seems wrong. Your Heron Lakes team is your first call throughout recovery – for urgent after-hours concerns, contact your nearest emergency hospital.
Measuring Recovery, Not Guessing
Complete TPLO Recovery Program patients receive four pressure-plate assessments. The pressure plate measures how much weight your dog places on each leg, so Dr. Lera can track how your dog is using the surgical leg over time and adjust the recovery plan based on measurements rather than appearance alone.
