Things to Do if You Love Your Pet

February 15, 2021

There’s a pretty special pet holiday coming up. February 20th is Love Your Pet Day! Of course, we hope that all of our furry clients feel loved every day. But when it comes down to it, there’s actually quite a lot involved with keeping purrs going and tails wagging. Treats and ear scritches are great, but as it turns out, there are also some less obvious ways to make your pet feel loved. A local Coral Springs, FL vet lists some of them below.

Get Insurance

Fluffy and Fido probably won’t be particularly impressed if you show them an insurance receipt. However, this is one move that could make a huge difference. Pet insurance can help cover the costs of many types of emergencies and medical issues, which is no small matter. Ask your vet for more information.

Ground Them

Many of our furry friends have quite a taste for adventure. However, Fido and Fluffy can get into a lot of trouble if they are allowed to wander. We recommend keeping cats indoors at all times. As for our canine buddies, they love having fenced yards to run around in. However, you’ll need to keep your pup on a leash whenever you take him off your property.

Groom Them

Given the options, our four-legged patients would probably scratch or pull this one off the list. Cats are pretty good about grooming themselves, but they still benefit from being brushed. Dogs, on the other hand, need quite a bit of help in this department. Keeping up with your pet’s beauty care needs will help keep them clean and comfortable, both of which are very important. Don’t forget about dental care and, for pups, nail trims.

Veterinary Care

This is another one that Fluffy and Fido probably would just as soon skip. While your pet would probably rather take a nap or play with a new toy than visit their doctor, coming to see us is crucial to their health. Keep up with those appointments!

Spay/Neuter Surgery

If your pet hasn’t been fixed yet, we strongly recommend getting this done. While you may love your furry best friend to the moon and back, there are no guarantees that their offspring will always fare as well.
